Indigo Bunting

Today I was bemoaning the fact that I thought I had gotten just about all of the birds that hang out here around my house, when lo and behold, I looked out the window and caught a flash of brilliant blue! An indigo bunting - #2 on my wish list - graced my feeder with a visit!

Fortunately, my camera was handy, and I was able to snatch a few pictures before he flew away... I'm hoping he becomes a regular visitor though - so beautiful!

Oh boy, was I excited when Josh spotted this Painted Bunting at the Pinckney Island National Wildlife Preserve in South Carolina (6/16/12). It was all I could do to keep from jumping up and down and screaming, I was so excited... What an amazing bird!
