Eastern Screech Owl

Some friends came to visit the other night and told us later that on their way out of our driveway, a screech owl flew down and grazed their car, then flew away. So last weekend, we spent a couple of nights outside, armed with camera, flashlight, and Eastern Screech Owl birdcalls on our iBird program for iPhone. I was able to snap a few shots where you can faintly make out our noctournal friend, but our identification of this particular bird was mostly based on the fact that it mimicked back the Eastern Screech Owl call perfectly (well, duh... ).

Spotted 6/3/12 from the street in front of the house.

To give you a better idea of what they look like, here's a photo we were able to get a couple of years ago of an Eastern Screech Owl that was hanging out in our shed... Kinda creepy!

Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to comment - I love hearing from you. If you can help me out with identifying any of these mystery birds or correct any mistakes I've made in identifying the others, I would so appreciate it! Happy Birding!
